SEPTEMBER 2025

Welcome to Spring Futures Family!  Finally the weather improves and we get more events, coaching and fun days.  As always watch our facebook page for all upcoming dates!

We are making some changes within the membership based on feedback from our clubs, members and golfing leaders within our community.  I will emphasize these below but I promise it will make a more positive experience for all players on the course.

School Holidays are just around the corner, please remember that a golf club is not a baby sitting service.  We do not have staff available to watch unsupervised players and do not want more complaints about unsupervised players not following rules and etiquette.  If you are asked to leave the course, please do so and respect the course supervisors and workers.

To support our clubs we are now asking for player details to be collected and reported to us if there are instances of concern, which we will follow up with parents and players.  If necessary memberships may be suspended or withdrawn.

FUTURES ETIQUETTE MEETINGS

To ensure that right information is reaching our players, we will now expect all new members to attend an etiquette meeting to sign off on appropriate play.  This will hopefully start to reduce some of the poor course etiquette we are getting reports on about our juniors and ensure expectations are set early on.

At these events we will also hand out the membership bag tags.

We will be tag attendance on your dotgolf record so that all clubs can confirm you have had this set of information.  New members will have 3 months to attend a meeting before their membership will be cancelled.

Our first meeting will Thursday 25th September 6.30pm at Otago Golf Club.  Future meetings will always be held on the last Thursday of the month.

MEMBERSHIP CHANGES

All players will now need to attend an Etiquette meeting and get signed off which will be marked on their dotgolf record.  This is relevant to new AND existing members of the club.

All of our amazing member clubs are aware of these changes and will implement on course.  We have a new printed member cards which will also better identify member categories for the clubs.

Under 10

  • Players will ALWAYS need to be playing with an adult in their group (playing or walking) to ensure appropriate pace of play and behaviour.  If you would like to play with your junior, Adult Memberships for U14 Children remain at $150 per year.

Under 14

Unfortunately this age group is one of our biggest challenges.  In this age group children simply do not follow etiquette, maintain positive course behaviour and keep up with pace of play.  We get complaints time and time again relating to children aged between 12-16 who are dropped off at clubs, and left to their own devices.  This cannot continue to happen or we will lose our relationship with our clubs and be unable to offer memberships.

  • Players with no handicap will be given 3 months to achieve a handicap.  This is simply playing a minimum of 6 holes at least 6 times.  A handicap indicates to the club/s that you play well, follow etiquette and are responsible on the course.
  • Players with no handicap following a 3 month start off, will need to be playing with an adult (playing or walking) with their group.  If you would like to play with your junior, Adult Memberships for U14 Children remain at $150 per year.

High School Students

This membership group is for students 14 years + and still in high school.  If members continue to use their memberships and are no longer in high school they will be cancelled immediately and no pro-rata refund will be offered.  If you have a current membership and have left school, contact us now for a pro-rata refund.

  • We will be doing pro-rata memberships for high school students who are 18 years and still in school, these will be set to expire in December.
  • Parent membership for high school members are $250 per year.  Parents can ONLY use this membership when playing with their Futures Dunedin members.
